Benjamin Wallace is the author of the forthcoming book The Mysterious Mr. Nakamoto, an investigation into the murky origins of cryptocurrency, which will be published by Crown on March 18, 2025.

Earlier work includes his book The Billionaire’s Vinegar, an instant New York Times bestseller which The Economist called “a great tale, well told” and the Times described as “one of the rare books on wine that transcends the genre.”

He has been a features writer at New York, a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, and the executive editor of Philadelphia, and has also written for publications including Wired, The Wall Street Journal, GQ, Bloomberg Businessweek, and The Washington Post. He has won a Mirror Award and a James Beard Award for his journalism.

The upcoming Netflix documentary series “Gold and Greed,” which Wallace narrates, is based on “The Great 21st Century Treasure Hunt,” his 2020 New York magazine article about a deadly, decade-long search in the Rockies.
